چکیده

A variational principle is constructed for gravity coupled to an asymptotically linear dilaton and a p-form field strength. This requires the introduction of appropriate surface terms – also known as ‘boundary counterterms’ – in the action. The variation of the action with respect to the boundary metric yields a boundary stress tensor, which is used to construct conserved charges that generate the asymptotic symmetries of the theory. In most cases a minimal set of assumptions leads to a unique set of counterterms. However, for certain examples we find families of actions that depend on one or more continuous parameters. We show that the conserved charges and the value of the on-shell action are always independent of these parameters. [email protected] [email protected]

Effects of Aggregate Gradation on Resilient Modulus and CBR in Unbound Granular Materials

Resilient modulus and California Bearing Ratio (CBR) in unbound granular materials are the key technical characteristics of layers in a flexible pavement design. Among the factors affecting these two parameters, the aggregate gradation is the most important. Using particle size distribution curve developed by AASHTO, together with other considerations mentioned in the related regulations have y...

An Investigation on the Effects of Aggregates Properties on the Performance of Unbound Aggregate Base Layer

Unbound aggregates are the most common type of materials used for construction of the base layer of flexible pavements in Iran and worldwide. Due to the lack of binder, the performance of the compacted unbound aggregates is highly dependent on the properties of the gravel (particles remaining on sieve 4.75mm, sand (particles passing sieve 4.75mm and remaining on sieve 0....

Intersection types for unbind and rebind

We define a type system with intersection types for an extension of lambda-calculus with unbind and rebind operators. In this calculus, a term t with free variables x1, . . . ,xn, representing open code, can be packed into an unbound term 〈 x1, . . . ,xn | t 〉, and passed around as a value. In order to execute inside code, an unbound term should be explicitly rebound at the point where it is us...

Correction: Applying Linear and Non-Linear Methods for Parallel Prediction of Volume of Distribution and Fraction of Unbound Drug

Volume of distribution and fraction unbound are two key parameters in pharmacokinetics. The fraction unbound describes the portion of free drug in plasma that may extravasate, while volume of distribution describes the tissue access and binding of a drug. Reliable in silico predictions of these pharmacokinetic parameters would benefit the early stages of drug discovery, as experimental measurin...
